Saving Your Natural Tooth From the Inside Out
Root canal therapy treats infection or inflammation inside a tooth, allowing many patients to keep their natural tooth rather than having it extracted. At Mission Bay Family Dentistry, the procedure removes damaged tissue from inside the tooth, cleans out the affected area, and seals it to prevent further infection, all while modern techniques keep the process far more comfortable than its reputation might suggest. Saving the natural tooth whenever possible helps maintain proper chewing function, jawbone health, and the natural alignment of surrounding teeth.
We provide root canal therapy to patients throughout Boca Raton and the surrounding areas who are dealing with tooth pain or infection.

Recovering After a Root Canal
Most patients recover quickly after root canal therapy, with mild soreness in the treated area for a few days as a normal part of healing. This discomfort can typically be managed with over-the-counter pain relief and generally improves within a week. Eating on the opposite side of the mouth until any tenderness subsides, and avoiding very hard or crunchy foods, helps protect the tooth while it heals.
If a crown is planned as part of your treatment, it's important to keep that follow-up appointment, since a tooth without a crown after a root canal is more vulnerable to fracture. Most patients return to normal activities the same day or the day after treatment.
